Volta’s new non-stick finish is designed to give subtle release properties for amorphous food products such as pastes or oily bakery products. The surface is designed to enhance online hygiene by reducing the amount of dirt that can collect over the course of a shift or production run where cleaning and disinfection may only be practical after work is completed.
The same finish is available for cleats and side walling giving a complete belting solution where appropriate.

Maintenance on conveyor belts has become an issue over the last few months of COVID-19 lock-downs and restrictive access to sites which challenges both the local maintenance crew and outside contracted conveyor fitters.
Some work can be scheduled after hours but even this adds expense and inconvenience to all concerned.
Volta thermoplastics belts offer up to 8 times more lifetime by eliminating the routine reasons for belt failure from wear and tear such as vulcanized joints. The results is less intervention, less maintenance and less COVID-19 bureaucracy.

Volta belts need less disinfection and this prevents chemical degradation common on ply and modular belts. New anti-bacterial treatments such as UV-C exposure also cause the same damage with micro-cracking paradoxically making belts more prone to pathogenic contamination as well as reducing belt life.
Volta food grade belts have been subjected to rigorous UV-C testing in a simulated operating period of 5 years under irradiation of 0.1 mW*s/cm2  across the entire belt.
On all belt types, L, M and H only some discoloration occurred with no degradation of belt surface and no loss of flexibility.

New soft embossing is now available on SuperDrive™, which in addition to the classic self-tracking and positive drive features, offers enhanced mechanical properties. These include a 25% heavier load bearing capacity and smooth running on steel sprocket drum motors and in dry applications.  

The texture has been designed to reduce strain on the conveyor wear parts and to prevent belt adhesion to wear strips.

🔎 CASE STUDY

🍪 Industry: Company in the food-bakery industry. Baked goods have a moisture and viscosity level and can also be oily.

🚨 Problem: Initially, the production line consisted of belts that suffered not only from the separation of the layers and the consequent exposure of an unhygienic fabric, but also from the distortion of the tape itself, making it unsuitable for use. The substitution had a six-month cycle. 

The substitution had a six-month cycle. Constant and unpredictable belt failures disrupted production schedules and increased maintenance costs.

✔ Solution: Volta aramid rope (ACR) reinforcement cable tapes were selected. These belts are suitable for the specific mechanical needs of bakery lines; long, wide belts that run around relatively small pulleys. 

The belts do not have cloths and are suitable for wet doughs and the use of ingredients typical of this sector. The company accepted the recommendation, and this was the beginning of a significant shift in their operational approach.
